OGCS Guinee SARL is a consultancy company specializing in the provision of multi-disciplined Project Management Services to the Global Mining and Energy Industry. We currently have a requirement for an Interface Manager / Planner to join the Simandou Project in Guinea.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an Interface Manager / Planner join the Simandou Mine Team. The Interface Manager / Planner is responsible for leading the process to identify and agree “give” and “get” dates for the Schedule interface points between Contractors, projects, and 3rd parties, thereby contributing to successful delivery of the Simandou Mine and Infrastructure projects. The Planner will work closely with Conakry-based Infrastructure Planning team and Site-based Mine Planning team to ensure that all schedule interface milestones are successfully managed to delivery.
This role is 50% based in a remote mining location and 50% in Conakry Corporate office (with a 6/3 rotational work schedule).
The position may require working in various weather conditions and potentially extended hours to meet project deadlines.
Specific Responsibilities:
Key accountabilities of the role include:
Schedule Development & Management: Create and maintain Interface register with “give” and “get” dates, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines and objectives.
Progress Monitoring: Track project progress towards the agreed interface points, identifying variances and potential delays. Provide regular updates and reports to the Mine and Infrastructure Lead Planners.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the project interface schedule and support development of mitigation strategies to address them. Identify and assist in the resolution of scheduling conflicts.
Reporting: Prepare Interface scheduling reports, including variance reports, float erosion charts, look-ahead schedules, and critical path analyses.
Change Management: Manage Interface schedule changes and updates in response to project variations or unforeseen events, ensuring all changes are documented and communicated effectively.
Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to optimize project schedules, improving efficiency and minimizing delays, and ensuring that project objectives are met.
Qualifications and Proficiencies:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the mining or construction sectors.
Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
Certifications: Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or planning and scheduling (e.g., PSP) is an asset.

ABOUT THE SIMANDOU PROJECT
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is a high-grade, world-class iron ore deposit and represents one of the largest known iron ore reserves in the world. Rights to blocks 3 & 4 are held by Rio Tinto Simfer, a joint venture between Rio Tinto, Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH), and the Government of the Republic of Guinea. Rio Tinto is the majority shareholder and managing partner of Rio Tinto Simfer. Rio Tinto are working with the Government of Guinea and Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), developers of blocks 1 and 2 of the Simandou mining concession, to co-develop the infrastructure needed to export mined iron ore from the far southeast of the country to Guinea’s maritime borders and beyond. These include 600km of rail infrastructure and port infrastructure on the coast of the Forécariah prefecture.
