OGCS Global in Africa
About OGCS Guinea SARL
OGCS Guinea SARL is a consultancy company specializing in the provision of multi-disciplined Project Management Services to the global Mining and Energy Industry.
OGCS Guinea SARL is seeking experienced personnel for the Simandou Mining Project.
Positions will be on rotation and will require regular travel to and within Guinea. Roles are at the mine site in the Simandou Ranges near Beyla, approximately 650km East of Conakry, and in Conakry, the capital of Guinea.
What is the Simandou Mining Project?
The Simandou mountain range lies in the south-east of the Republic of Guinea, occupying a surface area of 100 square kilometers. The range subsoils contain a world-class Ore Reserve of high-grade iron ore.
Simandou’s mining concession is divided into 4 blocks. Rio Tinto hold rights to Simandou’s blocks 3 and 4 through Rio Tinto Simfer – a joint venture between Rio Tinto (as majority shareholder and managing partner), Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH), and the Government of the Republic of Guinea. Rio Tinto Simfer is Africa’s largest mining and related infrastructure project, the Simandou Mining Project in Guinea.
Infrastructure for Simandou
Rio Tinto are also working with the Government of Guinea and Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), developers of blocks 1 and 2 of the Simandou mining concession, to co-develop the infrastructure needed to export mined iron ore to Guinea’s maritime borders and beyond. These projects include 600km of rail infrastructure as well as port infrastructure on the coast of the Forécariah prefecture in Guinea.
Why join the OGCS Talent Community for Simandou?
The Simandou project will become the world’s largest greenfield mining project, and the largest ever undertaken on the African continent. This megaproject will position Guinea on the world stage as a top global producer of high-quality, low impurity iron ore, and set a new benchmark for large-scale project development for the region.
Personnel working through OGCS Guinea SARL can expect a work environment where safety is the top priority, as well as competitive base salaries, based on skills and experience.
With first production at Simandou expected in 2025, the site is undergoing rapid expansion.
