Position Summary
OGCS is seeking a highly detail-oriented Project Controls / Planner to join a site-based team supporting fabrication progress tracking of an offshore scope commencing construction at MMHE’s Pasir Gudang yard.
The candidate will play a critical role in tracking progress across all construction disciplines and must be able to mobilize soon, supporting the project through to Q1 2027. This is a hands-on, in-person role, embedded within the onsite team, reporting to the Site Manager.
Note: there is no relocation package or visa application process available for this role. Applicants must be able to work legally in Malaysia as a condition of employment.
Key Responsibilities
Daily:
Track and compile physical progress across structural, piping, mechanical, E&I, and coating scopes.
Liaise with inspectors to gather progress data; proactively investigate any gaps.
Conduct site walks to verify progress and ensure full reporting.
Identify and correct inaccuracies in inherited progress tracking tools (Excel).
Support the Site Manager in assembling the daily construction report.
Weekly:
Prepare the weekly cut-off progress sheet for Site Manager review.
Update Primavera P6 with actual start/finish dates and labor units.
Support weekly reporting tasks, maintaining progress accuracy and visibility.
Monthly:
Compile and deliver monthly cut-off progress and client-approved progress sheets.
Assist with the preparation of the monthly progress report to overall Project Management Team.
Ensure all data reflects actual site conditions and approved methodologies.
Required Experience / Qualifications:
5-10 years of proven success in similar roles
Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 is essential.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manage and adapt complex progress tracking tools.
Prior experience supporting construction projects in fabrication yards, preferably involving heavy steel modules or turret structures.
Understanding of multidisciplinary construction sequencing across structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and coatings.
Background that includes some Quantity Surveyor experience highly desirable.
Excellent attention to detail and proactive communication skills.
Other Requirements:
This is a site-based role at the MMHE yard; the candidate must be able to work in-person from the onsite office, preferably with an immediate start.
Ability to conduct regular yard walks wearing standard PPE to verify progress and interact with inspectors.
Must be able to mobilize promptly to meet the project timeline.
Reporting line is to the Site Manager, and functionally supports the wider project controls team.
